Federations To Gather At First IF Sports Forum
The IF Sports Forum will bring together members of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) and the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF). It is being held with the collaboration of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and organised in conjunction with SportAccord, the international sport convention owned by ASOIF, AIOWF and GAISF.
ASOIF Director Andrew Ryan stated: “Collective representation of interests, knowledge exchange and support for IFs were the ideas behind the creation of ASOIF, AIOWF and GAISF and the time has now come to further promote these ideals through a concrete offering.”
While SportAccord is the annual global networking platform gathering many of the leading representatives from the international sports community, the IF Sports Forum is intended to attract the day-to-day decision-making directors and managers of the IFs working in specific disciplines. The new event is by invitation only and aspires to create an open and non-commercial atmosphere. The Official Partners of the IF Sports Forum are Eurovision, IEC in Sports, Meteksan Events, PA Sport and WCSN.
Lausanne, the Olympic Capital, has confirmed its hosting of the IF Sports Forum for the next three years. The forum will alternate its focus between key issues facing Olympic federations and the Recognised and all other Federations from year to year. This first IF Sports Forum will be targeted to meet the needs of the Olympic Federations specifically.
This year’s programme will feature two main streams: Sport Development and Marketing & Media for Major Events. Participants will gather in workshops to explore issues and case studies presenting the best practice from the industry.
