IMG pens eSports rights distribution deal with PGL
IMG, the international sports management and marketing agency, has expanded it eSports portfolio after agreeing a global media rights distribution deal with the Professional Gamers League, the eSports promotion and production company.
Through the agreement, IMG is to represent the PGL in selling the global media rights for its portfolio of international events.
The PGL, which was created in 2002, has organised over 50 events in the last five years, with seven events planned for 2018.
IMG has previously worked with the organisation distributing rights to the 2017 PGL Counter Strike: Global Offensive Krakow Major to 15 networks in over 75 countries.
IMG has been expanding its eSports portfolio ever since the launch of ELeague, its joint venture with Turner, the US media giant, in 2016.
The agency also has its own eSports tutorial platform, Boomeo, and has run eSports skills camps at its IMG Academy in Florida.
