IMG gets hospitality sales role in UK and Ireland for Euro 2020
IMG, the international sports and entertainment company, was today unveiled as the exclusive sales agent for hospitality in the British Isles for soccer’s 2020 European Championships.
IMG will have sole responsibility for the marketing of packages in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Euro 2020 is being held in 12 cities in different countries across Europe, with Wembley Stadium in London, England, Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland and the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Republic of Ireland among the host venues.
IMG’s appointment as the first Euro 2020 hospitality sales agent follows the request for proposals in the UK and the Republic of Ireland launched by Uefa 12 months ago.
Uefa had earlier decided to take the tournament's hospitality sales process in-house after rejecting bids for global packages put on the market in the second half of 2017.
IMG has previously worked as a Uefa sales agent at Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland, the 2011 and 2013 Champions League finals at Wembley and at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
IMG's official hospitality website for the next European Championships, which take place from 12 June to 12 July, 2020, can be accessed here.
The Euro 2020 hospitality programme offers exclusive packages with premium tickets, gourmet catering and elite viewing positions.
Packages will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from June of this year, before which there will be a pre-sale period for existing box holders at the venues in May.
Wembley (pictured) is to host seven matches, including the semi-finals and final, while Hampden Park and the Aviva Stadium will both stage three group-stage games and one round-of-16 fixture.
Martin Kallen, chief executive of Uefa Events, said the unit “is pleased to work with IMG. I am certain that IMG will once again achieve very impressive sales results as they have always done in the past."
